You may hate to mention it. You may hide it under the bed. But you can't deny the fact that it almost always exists in our Christian journey. Let's face it. It's there.
There is a chinese saying:
Know yourself, know your enemy; hundred battles hundred victories
We better face the fact that it is there, so that we will not be deceived by its beautiful outlook. Know the truth and the truth shall set us free from deception and defeat.
Temptations are custom-designed, taylor-made to meet your needs.
The devil knows your appetite. He has been studying you since the day you were born. So He will not lure you with something that is not appealing to you. He will try his very best to meet you needs, by you giving in to the flesh because flesh will give birth to sin. That is his plot and his ultimate purpose - That sin will rob away your relationship with God.
You may feel the short term pleasure of sin. But the side effect is you lose your peace of God in your heart.
Sin takes you further than you want to go, keeps you longer than you want to stay, costs you more than you want to pay.
But the good news is God wants to meet your needs too. They are real needs. But God's way is not by the flesh but the Spirit. Satisfaction in the Holy Spirit is inside out, not outside in. It is an outflowing of peace and joy, not a quenching to the bottomless thirst.
The devil offers you a speedy weight loss plan that will cost your own life. God offers you a healthy body that works out, eats healthy, blesses others.
God can turn the temptation to a training that makes you stronger spiritually.
Real needs. Two choices to meet the needs - Temptation or Training.
